In previous years it grew into two events, one on each side of the state line offering sessions on Job Searches, Entrepreneurship, Interviewing and Resume Help as well as Career Exploration with employers and networking with Service Organizations that can help the job seeker. Events are organized by local volunteers.

Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) began in 1999 as a White House Initiative to increase visibility of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and is now celebrated every October throughout communities across the nation. DMD has been coordinated by the American Association of Persons with Disabilities (AAPD since 2001, as a large-scale effort to promote career development for students and job-seekers with disabilities through hands-on career exploration and ongoing mentoring relationships.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
The Disability Mentoring Day Kansas City (DMDKC) committee is grateful to the Employers, Service Providers and Government Agencies who support our work and mission. Each year we are fortunate to have an abundance of employers and service organizations supporting this Kansas City Metro Area event.
